INSTALL / X86-64
Build DNS Deny for AMD64 Linux
For Intel and AMD 64-bit Linux desktops, home servers, and virtual machines. Build natively on an AMD64 Linux host.
1. Prepare the host
Install Rust 1.90+ and Cargo. On Debian or Ubuntu, install the native build tools; dpkg-dev is needed only for packages.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential pkg-config dpkg-devgit clone https://github.com/dre-zouhair/dns-deny.git
cd dns-deny2. Build a Debian package
make release-debOutput: target/dns-deny_0.1.0_amd64.deb. Run this target on AMD64 Linux: the script builds for its host and does not force an x86-64 target.
Or build just the executable
make build-releaseOutput: target/release/dns-deny. See manual binary installation for configuration and dashboard assets.
Choose a smaller build
make release-deb-no-api
# Or: JSON API without the dashboard
make release-deb-api-onlyPackage names add _no-api or _api-only before _amd64.deb. The dashboard-only variant still includes administration over HTTP behind your HTTPS proxy.
Install the build
Continue with the Debian package or manual binary guide to configure and start the service. Before first start, replace the sample password, restrict DNS clients, and choose your HTTPS setup. Existing state.db settings survive restarts; editing the seed does not replace them. See configuration and restarts.
